“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

Christ is above all. He does not give peace as the world gives or loves as the world loves. Seeking the world’s peace comes at a price – and often times that price is our soul.

Often times to have the” peace” (or security ) that the world offers we chase success, careers, ambition, money, recognition and affirmation of those around us, we chase prosperity….and very often we chase these things without giving a second thought to what happens to our souls when we leave this world.

Those things are not necessarily bad in themselves, but they become bad when they become idols in our lives and take the place in our hearts that should belong to Christ alone.

But make no mistake, modern society ensures that these things do become idols and that they displace God’s rightful place in the heart and minds of men.

The culture “works overtime” to keep us entertained, distracted and preoccupied with things of absolutely zero value that satisfy the lusts of the flesh and deaden a desire for God.

The system ensures that countless are caught in an endless rat race “chasing the dream” at whatever cost, while increasingly countless spend more time on social media than they do seeking God.

All of this has been designed with the ultimate objective of ensuring that people never really have the time to seek God, deepen their relationship with Him and meditate on issues of critical importance such as where we will spend eternity.

In this regard, Romans 8:6-8 warns “The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God” .

The above makes perfect sense when you observe the aggressive rate at which society is hell bent on getting rid of God in all spheres.
The bottom line is this, whenever you reject God, you give the devil room to act. Whenever you reject peace, you invite chaos and turmoil.
Whenever you reject life, death and decay take its place…

All of this is of course not surprising, given that satan knows that he is defeated and that the time is short before God’s judgment falls upon him – therefore his number 1 objective is to keep as many minds darkened and souls lost as possible. “The time for judging this world has come, when satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out.” John 12:31

But God is still merciful. He still extends His love, mercy and grace to all who turn to Him – no matter how far they have strayed, no matter how violently they have rebelled and no matter how hardened their hearts may be… there is hope, still.

There is only hope in Christ, the Son of the Living God. He has promised that whoever comes to Him will have their sins forgiven, given a new life in Him and can be assured of everlasting life with Him in heaven.

You see, satan comes to deceive, to steal, to kill and to destroy, but Christ came into this world, so that we not only have life but have it in abundance. So that we may be set free. Completely free.

Christ promises that all who call upon Him will be delivered. He promises to never turn away any who comes to Him in faith. He promises peace beyond understanding and even if the whole world turns its back on you, Christ promises to never leave nor forsake you.

Within Christ is the power to break every stronghold, every bondage and every weight the world has placed on you; beneath Him is every power, principality, dominion and might on earth and in Heaven; at His name every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord.

And besides Him, there is none other to save your soul…
